Soundscape Project

In August 2014, the Australian War Memorial will be launching the Roll of Honour Soundscape Project, one of the many projects commemorating the Centenary of the First World War. Primary school students between the ages of 10 and 12, selected from across Australia, will be invited to record the name and age of one of the 62,000 Australians who died during the First World War. These voice recordings will be played in the First World War section of the Cloisters in the Commemorative Area.

We chose 4 students - Oliver Bailey, Ellie Whish-Wilson, Riley Cowan and Joseph Heatley who travelled to the ABC studio in Launceston to record the names that we had to do. The children were very lucky to be chosen and really enjoyed the opportunity. As well as recording the names, they were interviewed for ABC radio and given a tour around.

If you go to the War Memorial, keep a listen out for their voices.
